Frequently asked questions

Why do you not accept insurance?

My goal is to provide personalized care that will not be limited by insurance restrictions on types of treatment, length, or number of sessions. Additionally, insurance panels require a psychiatric diagnosis to provide reimbursement. Therapy services to address and process normal human experiences such as grief and loss, distress and burnout, and lifestyle changes to improve health and wellness, are not covered by insurance when symptoms do not meet the criteria for a specific mental health disorder.

How long will therapy take?

Length of treatment for each individual depends on a number of factors including severity and complexity of issues that need to be addressed, consistency of treatment, readiness to make changes, etc. Research indicates that while there is a general positive connection between treatment length and positive outcomes, oftentimes 15-20 sessions lead to significant improvements. We will monitor progress on an ongoing basis to ensure that you are benefiting from therapy and making forward progress on your treatment goals.

Do you offer in-person therapy?

Currently, I only provide telehealth therapy to clients residing in California.
